Tips for Using a Shop Vacuum

A shop vacuum is one of the best residential and commercial tools to own because it helps out on so many clean-up jobs on a job site or at home in the garage, basement, or outdoors. Many shop vacuum cleaners feature a wet and dry capability to handle everything from dust and debris to cleaning up a flooded area.

A shop vac comes in a variety of sizes and shapes with all types of attachments and features to help with different projects. You can even select a shop vacuum based on its horsepower. Some shop vacuum cleaners come with blowers or mulchers for additional versatility.

Be sure to read all instructions that come with shop vacs so that you know the differences between the suction and blow switches as well as what accessory works for different projects. Switch the type of filter you use when handling dry or wet jobs. Don’t use a shop vacuum for certain types of materials, including anything hazardous like combustible fluids, carcinogenic fluids, or pesticides. Like any vacuum, clean it out after using in order to maintain its performance level and longevity.
